Born as art
gifted family with the artist’s imagination, and raised in the power of
Javanese tradition had motivated the family to the art and Javanese culture
exploration and had challenged their dedication dreams into a model of museum.
This culture heritage consevation project inspired the Mataram Kingdom to open
the hidden treasures of their noble women tradition and forbidden walls for
Public curiosty through this museum.

museum was then astablished and at the anniversary of Jogja city March 1, 1997.
This exenellecy Paku Alam VIII as one of the Mataram Kings who was also the governor of the Jogja province,
afficially apened the museum for the public. The building architecture was
inspired by the cross culture experience of European and Javanese Philosophy
was developed in creative balance at the hill sede of Merapi mount.
The Ducth
colonial design with the Javanese ambiance were combined. The concept of the
overall architecture has been introduced by KP. DR. Samuel J. Haryono Wedyadiningrat
and called “In the Field Architecture Concept”. This concept endeavors to
achieve harmony between the building and the lanscaping; the building and the
other ones, the form and the size of the buildings by means of “in the
field/spot” assessment and considerations.
This concept is
also ecologically sensitive, the buildings were contructed main element. The
living artists of Haryono family started their history from and old littlt
Dutch. Kampung of Sayidan, a residency of closed distance to the Sultan Palace
of Jogja. This Peranakan trait family spent their lifetime among the
neigborhoods of Javanese noble families. This nuance of unique society had
transformanced members of the family into tendency of a classical Javanese
tradition.
