Nikon COOLPIX P7100

For those who love to take pictures and serious about it, there is a new camera on the market that they will love. The Nikon COOLPIX P7100 digital camera is a sturdy, portable piece of equipment that offers a number of upgrades from the earlier model, the P7000. The overall quality, flexibility, and performance is still excellent as with the previous version, only the Nikon P7100 offers superior speed and image processing.
The shape of this recent model is basically the same as the older version, but one important difference is the screen. While the earlier model had a stationary 3-inch screen, this updated version has one that can be tilted up or down at an angle. This feature is ideal for shooting images that are higher or lower than normal. Other new additions include a rotary multi-selector, second function button, special effect mode and noticeably faster shooting and processing speeds.

The Nikon P7100 is not a simple camera, it is aimed at those who are more familiar with photography and understand its finer points. Getting comfortable with this machine may take some time and reading through its manual as well as taking some practice shots in order to gain mastery of what it has to offer. It isn't a pocket camera, so it can take up a bit more space to stow it, but that is not a serious inconvenience, it is still more portable than some. It is well-built and has rubber finger grips front and back to improve handling. Another useful gadget it has is its optical view finder, although it only gives an 80% view it is convenient when sunlight obscures the LCD screen.

A nice thing about the COOLPIX P7100 is that it comes with a lot of manual controls and options that allow for a great deal of personalization and expression of individual photographic style. Its menu is user-friendly and clearly presents the custom settings selections. Color options have the option of being set to standard, neutral, vivid or black & white. Any of these settings can also be adjusted to the user's preference for sharpness, saturation and contrast. There are 2 buttons called "function 1 and 2" that can also be set according to what the user selects.

In terms of speed, the Nikon P7100 offers greater shutter and focusing speed that its forerunner. Working off of Nikon's EXPEED C2 technology, lends itself to quicker processing times and its focus does an excellent job of capturing all details of the shot before it is taken. There is not a significant improvement in the continuous shooting speed though. It also shoots HD videos at a speed of 1280x720 at 24fps which is fairly good, and features stereo sound, low noise and optical zoom shooting capabilities.

Its image quality is considered fairly decent, as details are clearly distinguishable and its colors are vivid. The vibration and noise reduction features it has result in a reduction of color imbalances and flaws. Blurry images are prevented by the VR image stabilization. Its 7.1x wide-angle zoom lens ensures a crisp, sharp image due to the zoom memory being able to accurately select the correct focal length for the shot. This feature is regarded as being comparable to having a set of top-quality lenses available.

The Nikon P7100 is an excellent choice for photographers who want to produce superb, sharp images and be allowed ample opportunity to tailor them to their unique style and preferences.
